MILPITAS, CA - (August 12, 2003) - AVerMedia Technologies, Inc., a global leader in PC/TV video convergence technology, today announced it has developed TV tuner technologies to support Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) and Windows XP MCE-compatible PC applications. These technologies include video hardware compression PCI cards for traditional desktop PCs as well as Home Theater PCs (HTPCs), notebook TV tuners, and USB 2.0 TV tuners.
AVerMedia Technologies' Windows XP MCE-compatible tuner solutions enable users to receive regular television programming on computers using the Windows XP MCE operating system. Both internal and external TV tuner and video capture PC peripherals are offered.

AVerMedia has several versions of TV tuner cards that are compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition, including the PCI versions M179, M172, and M150. "Our TV tuner cards allow PC manufacturers to make the benefits of Windows XP Media Center Edition readily available to their end users," noted Hall. "Our wide range of cards also allows us to tailor a solution to a PC maker's specific needs."
Microsoft's Windows XP Media Center Edition, which began appearing in multimedia PCs late last year, is a superset of Windows XP Professional. The operating system integrates digital entertainment experiences such as live television, personal video recording, digital music, digital video, DVDs, pictures and more, with remote control accessibility for the user.
